Or, should I say, when one door is ripped off of the hinges thanks to violent wind and poor craftsmanship? Yep, finally got my new door done! I believe that the wind took my original screen door that first year we lived in our house. I believe that was about 4 years ago. So, it took me that long to get it done. Let’s just say that good things come to those who wait!!
I bought a brand new storm and interior door from the front of my house. I have the best handyman in the world (call me if you want a referral!!!). He was patient enough to walk me through everything I would need to consider before buying my new doors. Thank gosh he did that, I wouldn’t have had a clue!
I was very concerned about my color choices and budget. I made the color choices & spent about $200 more than I wanted. I went for a higher end storm door in hopes that cruel Mr. Wind would think twice before pulling the new one off the house.
I won’t say that the install went without issues. Isn’t this always the case when making home improvements. You really don’t know what you are going to get into until you start ripping stuff out. Thankfully my handy man has some significant attention to detail. You might even label him a bit OCD, but that was perfect for this job! He squared everything up and did a lot of extra work to get it done right. He even hauled away the debris after the 2 day ordeal!! What more could I ask. Granted, this also cost me more than I originally though, but it was well worth it.
In the end, I have a new front door that I love. I feel that my house no longer looks like the kind of place that you go to buy crack. I actually feel safe now knowing that an 8-year-old couldn’t bust down my front door to come rob me of all my worldly goods (read – puppy snatching!). And, more importantly, I can cross that improvement off my list.
When you come to visit, make sure to not touch the class on my storm door. It’s pretty & clean right now. I want it to stay that way!
