I do not drink a lot of alcohol. In fact, I honestly don’t enjoy the feeling it gives me when I do drink it. So I just choose to avoid drinking it pretty much all together except in small quantities. The rare occasion I will drink alcohol is usually when my family gets together and often it is just a beer with tomato juice & olives. I have been known to “crave” a bloody mary when the time is right.
I just don’t get the allure of wine. I don’t mind wine every once in awhile. It’s ok, I guess. I’d much rather have a beer, though. Probably has something to do with my upbringing. Don’t recall hanging out at a family event with people drinking wine. But, I sure do remember the Budweiser – ha ha.
The non-profit board that I belong to was planning a wrap up party to celebrate a recent fundraising activity. One of the board members owns a small wine shop in SF. You would have thought that she was offering us solid gold nuggets when she offered up her wine place for us to meet. Geesh – sure didn’t offer any allure to me. Now, if she would have owned a chocolate store, that would have been another thing all together.
So, those of you who like your wine can keep it to yourselves. There are others of us out here that may not have the “sophisticated” tastes like you. I’ll keep my beer, thank you very much. Ok, I guess I should say, “I’ll keep my ice tea, thank you very much” instead. I don’t even drink beer enough to be a true connoisseur!
I couldn't agree more - I'd take a margarita or a beer (or a girly martini :)) over wine any day. There are always networking events in my business and I avoid them like the plague!
