My defining moment this past year is a series of events involving my son. I guess it was fate. I gave my parents a lot of heart burn throughout the years when I was younger. I was destined to go through something similar myself. My son has had several issues the past couple of years with truancy. This was added to with some self-medication which led to trouble with the law. There were many highs and lows this past year. These events did define our year. Since we are starting a fresh new year tomorrow, I am chosing to focus on positives from this past year. These stressful moments brought my son and I closer together. I learned a lot more about my son and have spent a lot of great, high quality time talking about important things with him. I believe that he has learned to also appreciate our time together and better understands me as well. This past year was our defining moment in moving into the friendship stage of our relationship. And, I am welcoming that with open arms!
