Thursday - Caleb had is Algebra semester test & he did pretty good. Better yet, he finished up the quarter with a high enough grade that he ended up passing the class!! It was close - 9 tenths of a point - but close counts in this case. I'm really proud of all the hard work he did this past 9 weeks & think he is pretty proud of himself, too. Faith had her last chorus concert tonight. While many of the songs were pretty depressing - they ended the concert on a high note. This is her last year in chorus. Both her and Caleb have decided to drop their music classes for the next couple of years so they have the class time to get the credits they need to graduate. Unfortunate that they even had to make such a choice, but it was smart decisions for the both of them.
Friday - Caleb's last day of school was today. At 12:30pm, he finished up his last semester test for his sophomore year & he is officially now a junior. Yikes - just one more scary event for mom. For those of you who know me, I've already started a mental list of what the next 2 years will be like. One thing I've been thinking of is all the yardwork I want to get done in the next 2 years so I can host a fabulous grad party for that boy! I'm really proud of him for passing his classes this year.
Saturday - I met Kelly & Faith for breakfast at our favorite place - Cracker Barrel. The rest of the day was spent running errands & finishing up the mowing & trimming. This afternoon, I went to spend a couple of hours at the state Special Olympics track & field events. I was able to see all 4 of the people I know participate in some of their events & receive some awards. It was a complete blast & I think I may be hooked. I'm going to look into some volunteering opportunities for the future. I am very disappointed that nothing about these events was in the Argus Leader this morning. How could this have been overlooked? This is a significant even in our state & I found it insulting that it didn't make the front page of at least the sports section.
Sunday - well, the day is still early, so I cannot post what I did. But, I can tell you what I plan to do. Kelly is coming over sometime today to help make posters for our rummage sale to be held in a couple of weeks. Art projects are fun! I also need to get out to do some more yard work & finish up some cleaning around the house. I really hope to get the chance to talk to Heather, too.
Healthy Living - sorry to make this post even longer, but I wanted to give everyone a quick update on where things are at. I had my 6 month check up with my doctor & everything has improved since the last time I had labs drawn. My cholesterol, blood pressure & glucose levels are all improved - I am very thankful for that. Unfortunately, my weight is back up to where it was a year ago, so even the small steps I had made are all gone. I had my recheck mammogram & everything is good! I am so thankful for that - there were lots of prayers involved leading up to that. Last, I had my first appointment with a dietitian this week. She was very good & didn't lecture me at all. She helped me with some goals for decreasing my carb intake. So anyone with good recipes with low carbs - please send them my way :).
Positives for the last part of the week:
- clean mammogram
- Caleb passed Algebra
- saved $18 yesterday with my grocery shopping thanks to some wonderful coupons & even better sales. Even got 2 bottles of BBQ sauce for free :)
