Empty Boxes

Why do we, as Americans, keep boxes of products that we have purchased? Is it because we have such little faith that the product will be work or will be used that we save the box in case we need to return it? Or, is it because deep down inside we are all truly natural hoarders?

I ask these questions because I just got done cleaning out all of my empty boxes in my basement. Unfortunately, I did more organizing of the boxes than getting rid of any. The only ones that I put in the recycle container are the ones for products that I no longer own. Yep, I found a box for a phone that I had probably 4 years ago. What scares me is that I had to have moved that empty box from old house into my new house. Sigh…

For now, my empty boxes have been placed inside an empty wooden toy chest that someone made for Caleb when he was little. Yep, I put my empty boxes inside another empty box. The scary thing is that now these boxes are out of sight. We all know that means I won’t clean them out again for a long time.
