Day 9: Party

This prompt is so easy! The best party - the one that really rocked my socks off! - was my surprise 40th birthday party this summer. My family really got me good. We were on vacation out at the Black Hills (western South Dakota) in a cabin. I had no clue that they were going to surprise me. We walked back in from a quick shopping trip to them yelling surprise! I seriously thought the surprise was for my brother-in-law who had a birthday about a week later. So, I was even more shocked.

They had made me ice cream cone cupcakes that we all got to decorate together. They also made me some very funny gifts. I got an electronic picture frame & my younger sister made me a gorgeous shadow box with childhood pictures and some sewing supplies of my grandma's. It was very special all around.

The rest of the night got crazy, as is pretty typical with vacations in this family. In the end I was able to celebrate the big milestone with my favorite people in the entire world. And, for that I will always be greatful.
