Hair - the syndrome not the play

I don’t understand why I like my hair so much right after they cut it, but then a couple of days later I’m just plain annoyed. I never let them put product in my hair or style it after they cut it. I hate that crunchy feeling! So, it isn’t like they put something in my hair that makes me like it more. I also never have it washed, so it isn’t the shampoo. But, for some reason, when they cut my hair it is extra curly just like I like it. But, when I fix it at home, it doesn’t get that curly. Instead I have fly away frizz that just annoys me. Can someone explain what the phenomena is? Please tell me so I can recreate it at home!
