Snoowww, Nooo Snnooww

Not sure if many of you caught that reference in the title. It is a song from one of my favorite holiday movies: White Christmas. Check out the great singing in this video – ohh…gotta love it!

So, this post isn’t actually about holiday movies. Been there. Done that. The post is actually about my new hatred of snow.

Typically I enjoy the snow somewhat. I really like it right before Christmas and have always enjoyed a good snow day in February. This year, htough, I’m just really annoyed. I can’t handle any more snow. I’m ready for spring. I’m ready for green grass. I’m ready for birds, and flowers, and the smell of rain. I’m ready for sun. I’m even more ready for sun that actually provides some warmth. I’m ready to sit in the sun on my deck and enjoy a peaceful cup of coffee right as I wake up in the morning.

Instead of that, I have snow. And, more snow. The snow doesn’t melt here in SD. We aren’t like CO where they get 10 feet and it melts the next day. Nope. It just stays and keeps piling up. Until you can no longer pull through an intersection without craning your next to see over the large mound of snow on the corner. And, the snow is even really fluffy right now. So fluffy that the second a gentle wind creeps up (hmm…does wind ever creep up in SD???) the stuff just redistributes back on my sidewalks so I have to shovel yet again. So, in light of my hatred of snow right now, I wanted to share a lovely poem.

Snow By Kristen

Snow, the four letter word
I really don’t like you
I hope to someday so you go bye-bye
So I can enjoy the warm breeze of spring

Snow, the four letter word
I really despise you
You make me cold and wet
I can’t wait to smell the flowers blooming

Snow, the four letter word
Go back to where you belong
You should be in someone else’s yard
I look forward to seeing you melt
