I got to experience my first tornado drill at my new job. That first year is full of so many firsts, isn’t it? Ha ha Hopefully I won’t ever have to use that knowledge in the future. I’ve always had an odd fascination with tornados. I’ve never actually seen one, that I can recall anyway, but I do remember seeing some fingers coming down out of the sky when younger.
My mom taught me well when it comes to tornados and I have passed on that tradition to my own son. When there is the slightest possibility, head to the basement. Of course, the problem with that is that then I can’t sit and stare out the window hoping to see something. But, safety first!
I love watching those reality shows where they show people chasing tornados all over the country. Some day, I want to participate in one of those chases. With an experienced guide, of course. In the meantime, I’ll just hang out in my basement with my son (and sometimes my niece) waiting for the storm to blow over. Like Dorothy said…”There’s no place like home.”
