Again, I don’t think this will be much of a surprise for those of you who know me. I enjoy taking notes. When I was getting my bachelor’s I even came up with a system where I rewrote my notes and color coded them based on importance. This was a great benefit to me when it came time to studying. Plus, the act of rewriting my notes gave me an opportunity to revisit the lecture content.
In my previous job, I had a difficult time with my note taking. I’m not sure why exactly, but possibly it came down to being so overwhelmed at times that I didn’t even know what to do with the notes once I took them. When I started my new job, I knew this was an area that I wanted to improve upon. Concise notes are a critical part of staying organized and on top of new information – or at least they are to me!
I was thrilled when I found this large stack of clean project planner notebooks in the supply room next to my desk. Wow, this was karma. My new employer valued effective note taking so much that they purchased beautiful notebooks for all of its employees. And, I recently found out that many team members use multiple notebooks to keep their notes organized based on the project they are working for.
Ok, now that I’ve set the stage, I’m excited to share something else I just found out. I can use beautiful journals for my note taking notebooks! A new person started working in our development group and she uses this gorgeous tweed bound journal. I have almost filled up my nice notebook that my new employer provided, so I’m going to start shopping for something more fun. And maybe even a really nice pen to go along with it!
