When I have time, or even take the time, to enjoy a good book, I really love losing myself in a mystery. I don't want to have to think too much, just want to enjoy the time away from real life. I really like it when the mystery also involves a little bit of good humor, and even some good food.
One of my favorite authors is Diane Mott Davidson. Her novels take place in Colorado and focus on a caterer and her family. The author also incorporates recipes throughout the entire book. The recipes even become part of the scenery or the mystery!
I really enjoy the books because the characters are real and all have quirks that make them funny. Plus, Goldy, the main character, often solves the crimes, even though she really has next to nothing to do with law enforcement. I like the sense of the independent strong woman!
I also enjoy her books because of the scenery. The main character lives in this quaint, quiet town in Colorado. I think many of us can relate to living in such a remote area and the impact of a small town life.
I hope she comes out with a new book soon! I haven't read one of her books for about a year and I'm ready to lose touch with reality by delving into one of her juicy novels :).
