Caleb & I flew back into Omaha yesterday around 2pm. The drive back went very quick as Caleb and I talked a lot. I have found that our best conversations happen in the car. I think Caleb finds that to be a very non threatening environment, so he really opens up. We talked a lot about his struggles with friends at school. Heather had shared with me that Trung had similar struggles in high school, so I made sure to tell Caleb that. I could tell that that really made him feel better. He really looks up to Trung & sees that Trung hasn’t had to continue to suffer with people like that his whole life. So, I believe it gave Caleb some hope. Caleb & Faith have been given the option to bring a friend with them when we go on our vacation this summer, so Caleb & I also visited a lot about that. We made it back in time for us to pick up Cena from the kennel & got home about 6:30 pm. I didn’t do anything the rest of the night!
My day at work started off with a 3 hour presentation on ADA & EEOC – oh boy, what fun! I also have a grant due on Tuesday, so I had a ton of stuff that I had to finish up today in order to get it moving through the approval process. Unfortunately, the person who has been working with me on the grant didn’t get his stuff done, so I believe my week will be a little stressful. The good thing about grant deadlines is when they are over! No matter what I do to prepare for my deadlines, I always end up in a mad rush the last week. Think I would get used to it.
Positives about today
- It is raining out so I don’t have to go home & do yard work like I promised myself I would!
- Finally found a laptop that I can leave at home instead of traipsing a heavy backpack to & from work every couple of days.
- Quiet – especially when I can close my door at work.
