Make

Day 6 of my journey through my reflections of 2010 and looking forward to 2011. Thanks #reverb10 for a great way to enjoy my writing!

What was the last thing you made? What materials did you use? Is there something you want to make, but you need to clear some time for it? (Author: Gretchen Rubin)

This one is a bit hard for me since I am such a crafter at heart. It is hard because I have found little to no time this past year to do anything that I truly enjoy when it comes to being creative. I started a project, but haven't finished it. And, can't tell you about it because I hope to finish it at sometime to give as a gift :).

So, I'll write about my creations in cooking. I love trying new recipes, but really enjoy it even more when I come across something that I can make really well, that my son loves to eat and that hold really good memories in my heart. One of the recent things I made that fits this description is a recipe from my childhood. I have no clue what to call it, but it uses Thanksgiving meal leftovers to make the most wonderful dish ever! And, its been adapted many times over to improve upon the taste - or maybe to improve upon the use of the leftovers :).

Rolls of Yummy Turkey Goodness (how's that for a great title!)

1 can crescent rolls
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup chopped leftover turkey
1 cup leftover stuffing
1/2 cup sour cream
leftover gravy

Mix the cheese, turkey & stuffing together. Unroll the crescent rolls, tear them apart & then load each up with a heaping spoonful of yummy turkey goodness. Roll the crescents up like normal. Place on a greased cookie sheet about 1 inch apart. Next, mix together the cream of chicken soup, leftover gravy & the sour cream. Place a dollop of this mixture on top of each stuffed crescent. Place in a 375 degree preheated oven until the rolls are turning a golden brown. Typically takes about 45 minutes. Enjoy!  You could also add other types of leftovers to your rolls - mix in a little mashed potatoes, corn casserole, or even some cranberry sauce. We have tried almost everything & it always tastes great!
