Day 17: Lesson Learned

What was the best thing you learned about yourself this past year? And how will you apply that lesson going forward? (Author: Tara Weaver)

I used to work with almost all women. In my new job, I now work with almost all men. It has taken a lot of adjusting on my part. There is so much less discussion about our family lives and more focusing directly on the work. At first, I felt like I almost grieved that female connection at work. In the past several months, I have started to really understand how stronger of a woman I am now that I am placed in the situation where I need to be strong. I have learned that I have a lot more to offer a business than I originally thought. Slowly, I'm picking up a lot more self confidence. I'll apply this lesson by reminding myself that I am worth listening to at work and that my opinion means something. If I'm not being heard, I just need to change up my message so it is easier for those around me to understand. My not being heard does NOT mean that I  don't have anything good to share.
