I'm a bit off on my days with my reflections on the past year. Today's reflection prompt is: Think about what makes you different and what you do that lights people up. Reflect on all the things that make you different – you’ll find they’re what make you beautiful. (Author: Karen Walrond)
So sad, but the first thing that came to mind is my obsession with lists. I know that this makes me different than most people I know, but I can't say that it makes me beautifully different. Maybe kookie different :).
Starting over...I believe that I am beautifully different in that I try to find the strengths in people. This isn't something that I've always been good at, but my work with people with disabilities has really brought me down this path. I feel very strongly that we all have disabilities in our lives. Therefore, we should focus more on our abilities and what makes us different. I know that I'm good at lists, but not so good at small talk. So, I shouldn't ever be put into a position where I'm required to make endless hours of small talk with people I don't know. But, give me hours of list making to do and I'll probably really wow you! I guess you could say that I'm different because I like to focus on the positive differences in everyone around me.
