I've been in the processing of setting up craft room for about the past 4 months. Seems like other things come up that take priority (work, wet basement, birthdays...) so yes, it is taking me a long time. Last week (before the wet basement hit) I spent some time moving some of my stuff from the extra bedroom into my craft room. While doing that, I started finding various stashes of school supplies.
I should explain before I go any further that I've always had an obsession with buying school supplies. It really doesn't matter that they are fun or cute, just that they are new. There is something about the start of a new school year that makes me feel refreshed. So, I feel the need to buy a new pen to celebrate.
While I was consolidating all of my previously purchased school supplies, I was able to put together a large paper bag full of extra stuff that I'm going to donate to one of the elementary schools in town. I found about 10 boxes of crayons, 5 boxes of markers, tons of pencils, rulers, paper, notebooks, etc.
I love my son dearly, but he has never caught on to my obsession for school supplies. I did however, keep a large stash of mechanical pencils to help him make it through his senior year. That's probably all he'll need.
By the way, did anyone else see the Staples ad this week. They are having great sales on school supplies. Don't worry, I'm staying away. I hope!
