Wednesday

Yesterday, Caleb had his last orchestra concert unless he changes his mind and decides to sign up again his junior or senior year. Lincoln HS counts orchestra as a fine arts credit & since they are only required to have a 0.5 fine art credit to graduate, anything above that takes away from his other classes. Caleb enjoys orchestra, but not enough to take away from any other “fun” classes he might want to take. So, he has decided not to go on with it. I will definitely miss the concerts. I have always enjoyed his concerts, especially since he started high school. It amazes me how well they do at such a young age!

I also had yesterday afternoon off to adjust my hours from some of the extra work I had to do recently. It was a great afternoon to have off. Kelly also had vacation, so we decided to go walk around downtown to do some window shopping. That was a lot of fun, but the best part was stopping for coffee J. We had a wonderful time & spent very little money – a hard thing to do anymore with entertainment. We also made a decision to go take an Alaskan cruise when we get closer to our 50th birthdays. Ok, that really scares me to say & even more so to write – so just so you all understand, that it is 13 years away for me!! Now it would be a little closer for Kelly – he he. Of course, it will probably take us that long to save up the money. Anyway, I’m going to start researching it. And, everyone else is also invited, so we will keep you in the loop as the years start to roll by. Just think of the lists I can start making…

Mom & Dad also came up for Caleb’s concert. And, Kelly & Faith came, too. It was fun, but we definitely missed having Trung, Heather & Logan there. We went out for ice cream (supper for some) after the concert to celebrate the last one.

I also had some time to do some of my yard work. I planted a bunch of bulbs in the backyard. I realized that I bought bulbs that you have to dig up & replant each year. Boy, that will NEVER happen, so hopefully they come up once so I can enjoy their beauty. And, the never-ending saga of my rock/rose garden continues. I pulled up some more rock, so I was able to remove some more of the landscaping plastic. And, lucky me, I also got to finally see what was creating the large mound in the middle of that landscaping fiasco. It is a large, rotting tree stump! Needless to say, but this definitely pushes my landscaping plans back by a couple of weeks. Hopefully because it is rotting, it won’t cost as much to remove J. Does that ever happen that way – especially to me? Oh, and thanks to my dad for helping me feel better about the entire wheelbarrow (yes, I finally learned the correct way to spell it!) fiasco – he even came close to topping my wheelbarrow purchasing experience – ha ha. I sure felt better!

Positives for the past 2 days:

  1. Sent off another grant today – no more in the hopper, although there are a couple in discussion. One is due 6-8 & we haven’t even started – yikes!! (ok, focus on the positives…)
  2. Getting my flower bulbs planted
  3. Caleb’s orchestra concert – beautiful music & an all around good time.
