Sunday

Just figured out my checkbook and am amazed by how little money I have to live on each month. Almost my entire check goes to bills with just enough left over to eat & live off of. Definitely not as much as I want left over, though. I am trying to pay down all my credit card bills, so I try to redirect as much extra funds each month to that. I don't have a lot on my cards, but even a little makes me nervous. I do not feel the most secure in my job, so I'm trying to be prepared for the worst. And, I am also trying to put funds away to help Caleb buy his first car. I just wish I was one of those people who had fun money burning a hole in her pocket!

Today is just flying by, just like yesterday. Caleb thought he had to work at 9am today, so I got up early - yes, extra early because of the time change! - and drove him in. I didn't want him to take the car because there was snow on the ground. I got back home & he called me to tell me that he realized he wasn't supposed to be there until 11am. Sooo...I drove back to get him, drove him home, drove him back there at 11am and then drove myself back home. I get to go to get him at 3pm and then drive us back home. While the Burger King he works at is only 5 minutes away by car, I can imagine the miles I will rack up today just driving him back & forth!

The rest of my day has been busy finishing up the laundry, cooking up some hamburger I bought yesterday to put in the freezer for meals this week, cleaning the rest of the house, catching up on Days of our Lives that I had taped, shoveling the driveway & the sidewalk and paying bills. I haven't had time to go for a walk yet, but hope to here in a bit. I'll be back later tonight to update my healthy living progress.

Oh, quick update on Caleb's shopping spree last night. That turkey came home with a new hat, 4 pairs of jeans & 2 new t-shirts. He bought the jeans for $40 total! He is so darn skinny, so all the jeans on the clearance, BOGO rack at Pac Sun were in his size. And, he did a good job of getting some normal blue & black colored denim. Of course, they are the very, very tight skinny jeans that is such the craze now, so he looks like he is being starved when he wears them, but I'm happy & proud of his great bargain hunting skills. There is hope for him yet! :)

Evening Update: Spent the rest of the day finishing up chores around the house and making supper. Really had a great weekend, but it went by way too fast. I wonder if we will get that snow that they are promising (or warning) us about? I have a mtg tomorrow night & then class on Tuesday night, so the next couple of days are going to be very busy. I want to also use this journal to recognize positive things in my life. I read somewhere that if you focus on the positive, your life will just naturally become more positive. Not sure that I believe that...but, worth a shot! So, here is my positives about today:
  1. Snow melted very quickly & the sun was wonderful!
  2. When a Beatles song came on the radio, both Caleb & I belted out "Yesterday...all my troubles seemed so far away" in unison. Great moment!
  3. Had hobo dinners for supper. For those of you unfamiliar, those are hamburger patties, carrots, onions & potatoes all wrapped up in aluminum foil so everyone has their individual meal. Not only did we get a healthy meal, but it was great to throw the foil in the garbage - quick cleanup!

Healthy Living Update: Cena & I went for a 15 minute walk this afternoon (he was drenched by the time we got home after plodding through all the puddles). I ate healthy foods most of the day, but recognize that my portions were larger than they should have been. But, I did eat foods from all the food groups, which I am very proud of. I also worked almost all day with chores, shoveling, etc. so was very active.
